It’s been confirmed that the doors to Ruddington Library will remain shut for an indefinite period during this third, national COVID-19 ‘lockdown’.
A statement by Inspire Culture – which runs the service on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council – says it’s “committed to the wellbeing of staff and customers during the current Coronavirus pandemic.” The library had already been operating to very restricted hours since reopening after the first ‘lockdown’ and was also closed during the second ‘lockdown’ in November last year. Even the Tier 4 rules introduced locally on New Year’s Eve meant it would not be reopening after the Christmas holiday.
Until further notice we’re advised that:
- Books due back from January 2nd 2021 onwards will have their return date extended – there’s no need to renew our items
- Overdue charges will not apply whilst the library is closed
- Reservations can be made during the closure and will be processed ready for when Ruddington Library reopens. Collection can be made upon receipt of a notification and subject to library opening times.
- We can join the library online to access E-Resources, PCs, and Click & Collect.
PC use for essential access to public services only, such as job applications and benefit claims, is being kept available at some County libraries, such as West Bridgford, but not in Ruddington.
